The Executive Board of the Midnapore Hockey Association

A minimum of 10 hours per season is required.

  1. What roles are available?

The official list of positions is published on the website at www.midnaporehockey.ca under “Volunteer Bond”.  Opportunities to volunteer throughout the year will be posted on the website.

  1. I don’t skate but would love to help out, what can I do to help?

Review the list of opportunities on the website and submit your interest by email.   Contact the Association Administrator or the Director of Volunteers

  1. I don’t want to give the Association a cheque for $200 for the Volunteer Bond.

The volunteer bond is mandatory for all members in good standing.  Unfortunately your family member(s) will not be able to skate until the Association receives your cheque.

  1. If I do not complete the minimum 10 hours will my cheque get cashed?

Yes

  1. If I only complete 7 or 8 hours will you still cash my cheque?

Yes.  Even though hockey season may be over, you can still volunteer a few hours on end of year activities such as the Spring Breakup Party and equipment return.

  1. There are no more roles on my team, (Coach, Assistant Coaches, Manager, and Assistant Manager).  What can I do?

The Association has many opportunities that help the association as a whole.  There may be open board positions and understudy roles to each board position.  On behalf of the membership we are trying to get 2 new sheets of ice and we need people to get involved in the SFCRA expansion.

  1. I know a person that is doing two roles that qualify for the volunteer (e.g., Coach on one team and Assistant Coach on another) this is not fair.  What can I do?

There are other opportunities to volunteer.  Review the list of roles including bingo and fundraising activities.

  1. Who is tracking my volunteer hours?

You are responsible to report your own hours. The Volunteer Bond Credit Form is available from the website and must be used to record your volunteer hours.  All hours must be signed by the Director in charge.   Those volunteering for major roles in the association will automatically have their hours recorded by the association i.e. board roles, coach, assistant coach, manager etc.

14.   Who do I talk to about volunteer opportunities?

Opportunities will be listed in the approved roles, noted at time of registration or posted on the website. You can send questions to the Director of Volunteers  or the Administrator

  1. When I volunteer to do a bingo and go on the website I can only put my name on the wait list? How can I actually book a bingo?

The first step to book a bingo is to put your name on the waitlist.  Our bingo coordinator will go into the system and assign bingos to volunteers.  You will need to check back to see if you have been assigned the bingo you requested.

  1. Can I work off my bond for the next year?

No, at this time we are working only for this year.  Once this year closes (may 31st) and we move into the new season, you can begin to work off your bond before the season starts.

  1. Can I earn extra vouchers for my own registration

Once you have fulfilled your bond requirements and are experienced, you can do bingos for vouchers for registration.  Please be aware that Midnapore Hockey’s first priority is to ensure all members have the opportunity to work off their bond first.

  1. Does being a jersey parent for a team qualify for the bond?

No, it does not.  The bond is designed to fulfill roles for the benefit of the association as a whole.  Working with the director of equipment during distribution of the collection of the jersey’s would qualify.

  1. Where can I get more information?

You can read more about the Volunteer Bond at www.midnaporehockey.ca under “Volunteer Bond”.  You can also talk to the Director of Volunteers ,  the Director of Communications ,  the Administrator  or the Vice President Off-Ice
